2-Minute Shower Installation

Follow these step-by-step directions to install the 1.5 gpm "Jet-Stream" Showerhead® in just two minutes.

The 1.5 gpm "Jet-Stream" Showerhead® fits all standard ½-inch threaded shower arms (Adaptors are available to retrofit obsolete ball-type shower arms).  Caution!  Plumbing tape is not necessary for new installations.  If plumbing tape is used, it should be used carefully and placed  2 - 3 threads away from the end of the pipe.  This prevents the tape from being cut off during installation, entering the shower head causing erratic pressure and flow patterns.

1Remove the current shower head from the shower arm extension, by hand or by using a crescent or pipe wrench.

2Remove all grime or dirt from the shower arm extension with a rag or cloth. Wrap with plumbing tape 2- 3 threads away from the end of the pipe, if necessary to provide a smooth and clean connection.

3By hand, install the 1.5 gpm "Jet-Stream" Showerhead® and ensure the black seal (control valve) is centered in the top of the connector before installing slowly. Turn the connector by hand clockwise until snug.

3Caution: Do not use a wrench or over-tighten as this may damage the control valve/seal and cause erattic flow control.

4Turn on the water and ensure there are no leaks. If there are no leaks, tighten as necessary by hand. If a wrench is used, tighten not more than one half turn.

3Do not over-tighten as damage to the Control Valve/seal may occur and the shower head will not perform as designed.

5Take a quick shower rather than a bath and save an average of 20 gallons (76 liters) of water.

Most Common Problem: Sometimes, sediment or plumbing tape gets into the "Air Chamber" and resulting in poor performance or the shower to be erratic and weak. Solution: Remove the black "Control Valve" from the top of the unit, then cover the "mouth" with your hand and blow hard several times. This will cause the sediment or plumbing tape cut off strip to exit the top of the unit. Then re-insert the black Control Calve and re-install.

Energy-Saving Tip:

After installing the patented, water & energy efficient, 1.5 gpm "Jet-Stream" Showerhead® in all showers in the residence, you can save even more money with a small adjustment to your hot water heater temperature.

By simply reducing the hot water heater mean temperature from the normal setting of 130–140° F to 105° F. This could save an additional $5.00 to $25.00 monthly per family. The reason for the higher setting is to re-heat the cold water coming into the water tank that is being drained by the old shower heads at 2.5 to 10.0 gpm.
